Summer or Winter Holiday Guest Room

Are you planning on overnight guests for the holidays at your home? If so, is that spare room ready for your guests?

Follow along with these quick and easy ways to make your guests feel welcomed in your home.

  1. Start by clearing out the guest room closet, or at least one side with hangers. This is really essential in making them feel special and welcomed. Keep only the linens your guests will need; like extra blankets, pillows & towels. (I like to keep a new set of linens just for my guests.) Make the bed with fresh sheets, blankets and pillows.
  2. Clear any dresser drawers & nightstands that the guests will be using. Have an outlet strip available for any phones, tablet or laptops. Don't forget to have the wifi password available as well. A lamp, tissues, water glass, fresh flowers or small plant, real or artificial always make a guest feel special and that you were thinking of them. Also, don’t clutter the side tables with too many things. Having space for a guest to place their personal items within arms reach of the bed is a really nice bonus that we don’t really think about.
  3. Let's not forget the bathroom they'll be using. I always have a nightlight available for those middle of the night trips. Be sure you have enough toilet paper, and don't forget a hairdryer. Have extra hand towels, wash clothes, bath towels and bath mat.
  4. Here's a list of more items you could leave in a nice basket that also might help your guest feel special:
toothbrushes + toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, feminine products, razors, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bars of soap, lotion, cotton balls, Q-tips, air freshener and first aid items.
  5. Welcome sign that says: Welcome (Smiths)
  6. Welcome basket of snacks your guest might prefer, water bottles, fresh fruit, instant coffee or coffee pods/tea bags.

Be sure to dust & vacuum...AND make that bathroom sparkle!

But most of all, enjoy your guests!
